Ani Tsultrim Palmo

My name is Tsultrim Palmo Sherpa. I am from Okhaldunga district which lies in the Eastern part of Nepal. I was born on 27 June 2005 and raised in a middle-class family. As my village is an underdeveloped place, I couldn't get a proper education. I had learned some basic education there; however, it wasn't that effective due to the lack of facilities. Since I grew up in a Buddhist society, I saw many nuns and monks there. I was inspired and wanted to be like them. According to the sherpa culture, in past years they used to send their second daughter to the monastery. As I am the second daughter of my family, they decided to admit me to a nunnery. I was quite happy by their decision. Fortunately, in June 2014, I joined Osel Karma Tekchokling Nunnery under the guidance of my uncle. It was my great pleasure and luck to be here. Of course, it was a little bit tough to adjust in a new environment by leaving my hometown and family so far. Since all the nuns are so loving and caring I felt like all of them are my family and I learned to adjust in a new environment effortlessly. Talking about the nunnery, it is such a peaceful and amazing place for learning and meditation purposes. Khenchen Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche established this nunnery with the help of many sponsors. By the kindness and hard work of Rinpoche and all the helpful and kind-hearted donors I am able to joined SMD school (Shree Mangal Dvip boarding School) which was established by Very Venerable Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche in 1987 for the Himalayan kids to preserve Himalayan cultures and tradition. I am extremely grateful to Very Venerable Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche for his huge contribution towards us. Because of his continued support, so many of Himalayan kids are able to complete their studies. I am officially graduated this year (2023) and these days I am teaching to junior nuns during my leisure period. Honestly, I am so grateful for each and everyone who supported me to complete my studies.
