Ani Ngawang Chodon

Ani Ngawang Chodon is from Phadruk in western Tibet. She grew up in a farming family of seven, without schooling. She escaped to Nepal to become a nun. It took her eight days to make it across the border among a group of traders. She went to see His Holiness the Dalai Lama after the crossing, and then returned to Kathmandu, where she became a nun. Ani Ngawang Chodon appreciates very much her opportunity to study English and Tibetan at Tek Chok Ling, but adds that she “still misses Tibet and her family.”
